Superintendent's Report Card Video Message

We live in a great community with supportive residents and a school system committed to our students’ learning. We are very pleased to share with you that the Fairview Park City School District is an “Excellent” rated school district by the Ohio Department of Education. While our final results show that we are “Excellent,” our goal is to sustain our excellence. I encourage our community members to congratulate our students, teachers and administrators for all of their hard work and dedication to achieve an “Excellent” rating.

Improving student achievement is a key part of a triangle that the board of education and I see as the foundation of a solid school system—a triangle composed of quality continuum of services, education, financial stability and quality facilities. Through your support of the Gemini project, we have first-rate facilities, a beautiful new elementary school, high school/middle school improvements that support student safety, technology and general upgrades.

Through sound fiscal planning and management, the district has been able to honor and extend the pledge from the 2006 levy campaign of five years with no new taxes. The board of education is looking at a financial forecast that shows us financially sound and stable through 2013. Our stability will be the longest period between new money levies the district has seen in several years.

Our triangle provides first-rate quality education to all FPCS students. We are proud of our diverse student population and the richness it brings to our community. In addition, we provide critical support to our special needs students who are achieving great strides to ensure a bright future and, without our instructional support, would be impossible. We have some 200 students who receive services for limited English proficiency in our district. Over 26 languages and dialects are represented in the district. While state-mandated tests present their own challenges, language barriers provide even more challenges for our students.

In the words of legendary football coach Woody Hayes, “You are either getting better or you are getting worse, because time goes on.”

We are committed to being the best Fairview Park City School District can be. Regardless of what barriers we face, our students and staff will strive to achieve and maintain Excellence.

Congratulations to our students and staff!

Respectfully,

Brion Deitsch
