NEW! A Message from Principal Sheets

March 2013

Spring is in the air…well not really, but as we look at the calendar, we can at least see that spring is on the horizon. On Wednesday, February 27, we held our annual State of the Schools address in the high school auditorium, and we would like to thank all of you who attended. We had a wonderful crowd, and the program was a great opportunity to not only inform the citizens about their school district, but also an opportunity to share stories of success and showcase the great things that our young people are doing on a daily basis. The students were thrilled to have the opportunity to share some of their projects with community members, and it was such a positive experience for all involved.

One of the main topics of conversation following the presentation was the transition of next year’s sixth grade class to the middle school. I had the opportunity to speak with several parents and even had the chance to show parents the classrooms in which their sons and daughters would be in next year. We have met with staff members who will be transitioning with the students and the scheduling process has begun. There is a great deal of excitement surrounding the opportunities involved with such a move, but there are many questions also. While we likely do not have all of the answers yet, I would encourage parents to email me with any questions so we can continue with the dialogue and keep all parties as informed as possible. In addition, we will have multiple meetings/open houses for parents and students in late April and early May to familiarize everyone with the building.

As we move through March, please keep the following events and activities in mind:

  • The Fairview Park PTA Council is sponsoring their Online Malley’s Candy Sale until March 25th.
  • All Sophomores will be taking the five sections of the Ohio Graduation Test beginning Monday, March 11th. Students who are not taking the assessments will begin school at 9:00.
  • Our district band (March 6th), choir (March 7th), and orchestra (March 20th) concerts will take place this month in the auditorium.

The spring is a busy time for parents, teachers and students, and the final weeks of the school year will be here before you know it. We encourage all parents to contact us if you have any questions regarding end of the year activities or even plans for the upcoming year. For those of you that are interested in more frequent updates via social media, feel free to follow me on Twitter @FPCS_Principal. It is always our goal to keep the Fairview Park community as informed as possible.  As always, If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
