Eighth grade students recognized with end of year awards

On May 30, 2024, at Fairview High School, several awards were presented to outstanding 8th grade students, celebrating their unique talents and accomplishments throughout the year.

The Gayle Dill Book Worm Award, named in honor of longtime staff member Mrs. Gayle Dill, recognizes students who exhibit a profound love for reading. This award recognizes Mrs. Dill's legacy and passion for life long reading, and is given to those who go above and beyond in their reading endeavors. This year's recipients are Madeline B., Athina S., Bella L., and Casey M.

The World In Your Hands Award acknowledges students who display remarkable potential. This award, a long-standing tradition at Fairview, is given to well-rounded students who demonstrate a bright future. The honorees this year are Hena M., Vance S., Ben B., Emily D., Seamus S., Mason R., Thomas M., Ivy B., Carter R., Jaiviana H., Evelynn B., and Autumn C.

The Archie Griffin Award is dedicated to promoting sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity in both academics and athletics. This year's awardees, Claire D., and Nathan C., have exemplified these qualities, making them this year's recipients.

Finally, the Lewis F. Mayer Award is presented annually to an 8th grader who exhibits the admirable qualities of courteousness, thoughtfulness, concern for others, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and outstanding scholastic achievement. This year's deserving recipient is Sadie S.
